Wedding & Honeymoon, Part 1: Before the Wedding [Nicole]

Well, Stan is right. We haven’t had much free time since the wedding. We were hoping things would slow down, but they haven’t yet.

I’m going to post much of what Stan posted. We’re trying to put a sort of play-by-play account of our wedding up to the present, for those who weren’t able to attend and to keep our long distance friends and family updated on our lives.

Friday: Manis, Pedis and “Ta-da!”

We were able to sleep in a little later on Friday, but not much. I had to be at the salon by 9:00 to meet with the manicurist. Krista and I were spending the morning having manis and pedis for the ceremony. We had a blast! It was very relaxing, and Krista and I were able to spend some time catching up on each other’s lives. As soon as we were finished there, we went to El Charro for a “bridal lunch” of sorts. It was just the two of us, but we decided that it was okay to call it that. Anyway, shortly after lunch we arrived back at the church with Angela and began the enormous task of decorating the church and reception area. Fortunately, Stan, my dad and a friend of the family had arranged all of the big furniture on a previous night in the week. Now, it was just up to us girls to finish decorating and make sure we had everything we needed.

We started in the reception area, and might I just say, thank the Lord for Angela. She has always had a knack for reading my mind and it served us well during this time. My mind was too busy with the millions of things that needed to be done for me to be able to clearly indicate what I wanted for the reception. Angela didn’t even need to ask me. She just knew what I was thinking. It was fantastic! With her help, we were able to take care of everything quickly. In fact, because she was there, I felt good about leaving the decorating in her hands while Krista and I went to find flowers for the reception. After searching three different florists, we came across a wonderful place called 4 All Season Florist. It is now my favorite florist in town. They had the most beautiful Pink Gerbera Daisies. I was so excited! With that out of the way, and the decorating in Angela’s capable hands, I was finally able to relax for a few moments before the rehearsal dinner began.

The rehearsal dinner went much smoother than I expected. Everyone arrived before the rehearsal began, and everyone seemed to get along exceptionally well. It was so good to see Stan’s (and my) family again, and our parents were so happy to finally meet.

After the rehearsal dinner, the girls had planned a little get together for me. I was not allowed in the room until they were ready, and when I was finally given admittance, I discovered they had really gone out of their way. There was food, presents, and we just had a great time. We talked and laughed and it was a very relaxing time! I was so glad they planned it!

And yes, Stan and I did technically see each other on the wedding day. It was about 12:30 a.m. and it couldn’t be helped. However, as I said before, Stan is right. It was so wonderful to have a time of prayer together before we began our new life as husband and wife.
