A little ring problem
My wedding ring may be a little too small. At first, it was fairly easy to take off for showers, but in the last week, the finger has sometimes swelled up too much to be able to remove it. I knew that there would be a little bit of fluctuation in all fingers' girth over time, but now it seems that the swelling is just on that particular one.
I've never really been a jewelry wearer, especially not a ring wearer until last month, so this is all brand new. The ring I am wearing is different than the one Nicole originally put on my finger (we used Dad's ring for the ceremony), and it was never resized because the jewelry store said that my fingers would shrink slightly in the cold weather. That may be so, but my left ring finger is now puffier than the right one.
So I might need to get the ring resized a half-size up, which I was hoping to avoid, as it's a tri-band ring of 18K gold and platinum. A resizing sauter would only be of one type of material, which would make a noticeable stripe across the grain.
My other option is to take the ring off occasionally to let the swelling go down. I once had this idea of tattooing my wife's name across the base of the finger in the ring location, for times such as painting or other rough-hands work, when the ring could get damaged. I might still do that.
The fortunate thing is that Nicole and I are secure enough in our relationship to know that a temporary removal of the ring does not signify anything "wrong" bewtween us. We're always going to be just as happily married whether our rings are off or on!

Hey Stan, It's funny you bring that up, I also have had the thought of getting a "tattoo wedding band" with Laura's name, and then still wear a ring over it so in those times I need to take my ring off, the "band" will still be there.
I offered to make him a ring out of pretty pink paper, but he didn't seem to keen on the idea. Oh well, I tried!
Pretty pink paper dissolves surprisingly quickly in the shower. Please don't ask me how I know that.
